Website builder vs a custom build.

A website builder is a hosted, drag-and-drop tool: you assemble a site from templates and blocks inside the platform. A custom website is engineered for you, built on open web standards, then handed over with the code. For a quick presence, a builder is genuinely fine. The differences that matter show up later.
Performance
Google grades real-world speed, and speed feeds both rankings and sales. Builders load a lot of shared code to stay flexible, which makes consistently fast pages harder to hit, especially on mid-range phones on South African mobile networks. A custom build ships only what the page needs, so being fast is a design goal rather than a fight.

The basics are available on both. The ceiling is different.
